Whistle Stop ChoCho

This is ChoCho.  Karen Ray Bernauer found her at the train station.  She is about a year old, spayed, and her shots are up to date.  Karen seems to think that poor ChoCho wasn't loved or cared for at her old home and is hoping to find a Good Home that will love and care for her.  Can you give ChoCho a good home?  Do you know of anyone that might be a candidate?  If so, email George@WhisperingRange.com or post a comment via this blog.

New Name ~ Larger Coverage Area for Central New Mexico New & Information

Mountainair News and Information has changed its name to Central New Mexico News & Information.  This blog and it's predacessor (Country Chronicles.net) were created to show what a wonderful town and area Mountainair really is.

I became so tired of all of the negativity surrounding Mountainair that I wanted to show case the good things that happen in Mountainair.  With the expansion of social networking, blogs, and world wide coverage via the internet, I wanted to expand the coverage area of the old Country Chronicles.

The Central Mountain area of New Mexico if the best location in the world in this writers opinion - all of our communities are filled with honest, hard working, neighborly people and we can do anything if we work together.

Compliments to Mayor Chester Riley and the Town Council

I wanted to thank Mayor Riley, members of the Town Council, all of the staff and employees from the Town of Mountainair.  All of your efforts at community clean up and repairs are much welcomed and very appreciated!

GOOD JOB EVERYONE ~ THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

Memorial Services for Ish De La Rosa in Mountainair, NM

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10am, in the Dr. Saul Community Building, for a well loved member of the Mountainair community, Ishmael De La Rosa or Ish as everyone knew him.  His passing was such a surprise to the community and he will be sorely missed.  Ish was laid to rest in Hagerman, NM and is survived by wife Sammye and daughter Pamela and her husband of Roswell.

An account has been set up at My Bank in Mountainair for those who would like to donate to help Sammye through these difficult times.

On a personal note, Ish and Sammye have been this writers long time friends and it is still hard to believe that Ish won't be offering to take Sammye out for a fine dinning experience at at Mc Donalds "Double Meat/Double Cheese" he would say with that wonderful grin of his.  It will be hard to be in Mountainair and not find Ish or his trade mark vehicle at the post office or catch him having coffee at Ancient Cities.  Ish was a kind, special man, a gentleman, who loved to make friends and helped those he met along the way.  Ish loved his wife and daughter to a fault - there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.  God speed and good rest Ish

Deer Canyon Developers Denied

During the June 23rd Torrance County Commission meeting, Deer Canyon Developers were denied lot requested changes to Phase III of the Deer Canyon sub-division located just south of Mountianair, New Mexico.  The developer, Verde Heritage Ranch had requested vacation of lot lines within phase III of the development reducing the number of parcels from two hundred and thirty two down to two large parcels in order to complete the sale of remaining parcels within the the development.  Deer Canyon's Home Owners via their Home Owners Association were veamently opposed to the developers request because it would change the value and nature of the properties they were sold.  Perhaps further negotiations with the developer and the home owners association will result in a satisfactory resolution for all parties involved.
