4-H State Capital Field Trip

The 2013 4-H Santa Fe Field Trip was filled with many activities. The 4-H youth from Torrance County had the opportunity to meet Senator Griego and his office staff.

We also toured the round house and sat in on the morning legislative session. Lunch was entertaining as the group enjoyed Mexican food at Tortilla Flats. The afternoon consisted of a tour at the Palace of Governors where everyone participated in learning about the History of New Mexico and Santa Fe as our state capital.

We look forward to continuing this trip each year. Delegates: Mathew Sedillo, Phillip Warren, Heze Ortiz, Jesse Chavez, Natalio Hernandez, Bella Neish, Cruz Moreno, Marlie Neish, Cooper Autrey, Journee Dial, Sydney Chavez, Sophia Sedillo, Tyler Trujillo, Aubrey Lucero, Olivia Anaya, Kirsten Massey, Jean Shelly Massey, and Gianni Warren.

What a fun Group! A big Thank you to Cheri Lujan for setting up our 4-H visit with Senator Griego!

Westerneers 4-H Club

Westerneers Club Meeting Report, By Luke Drennan, Club Reporter

Joshua Heckendorn called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm. This was our first meeting in our new place. Jonathan Tucker led the American pledge and Mariah Montoya led the 4-H pledge.

We decided to donate $200 to the Southwest District Horse show and we would like to challenge the other clubs to do the same. We talked about bringing fundraiser ideas to our next meeting to help raise money for our club. We also talked about community service ideas like park clean up, road clean up, and the Torrance County Fairgrounds clean up/repair - we talked about inviting other clubs to join that one.

Anna Davis did a demon-stration on leather crafting, and Jonathan tucker asked permission to do a gun safety lesson next month. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10.

From the Desk of the Honey Badgers. The Honey badgers 4-H Club has been busy gearing up for our fundraiser Matanzas and chili cook off. The event was held on Saturday, February 23rd at the American Legion post 22. We had a great turn out and finally have something for our treasures report. We have had many members do presentations; demonstrations already. We will be getting started on our portfolios for the year next meeting and planning spring and summer events. We would like to thank every-one who donated to our fundraiser!
