Spring 2012 Seedling Program being December 5th

Ordering for seedlings from the NM Forestry Division Conservation seedling program for Spring 2012 begins December 5, 2011 and continues through April 14, 2012. Distribution will begin March 5, 2012 and end on April 20, 2012. You may order on-line at www.nmforestry.com or by mailing in an order form with payment. If you need an order form you may download one from the website or call 505-476-3325 to have one mailed to you. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and check.

Over 80,000 seedlings are available for purchase through the Spring 2012 Conservation Seedling Program. There are over 60 species available for the Spring 2012 Distribution Program. New Mexico Forestry Division is selling bare root and containerized seedlings for the Spring 2012 distribution.

STAURDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2011

If you have been thinking that now it the time to get your license, this class is for you! 
Don't own a handgun or haven't decided yet on which one to buy?? . . . No problem, the class fee includes the use of several handguns in popular calibers. 

This class will be taught by NRS & New Mexico Certified Instructor, Don Gallahue.
This course is intended for those seeking to become licensed to carry a concealed handgun or anyone seeking instruction in the safe handling and use of firearms.

COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE WILL ENABLE PARTICIPANTS TO APPLY FOR A FOUR-YEARS CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE FROM THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, IN ALBUQUERQUE*

Where:  Town of Mountainair, Town Hall, Judges Chambers
              107-North Roosevelt.  (North of NM Highway 60
               West of the Mountainair Post office.

TIME:  Registration beings at7:30am
             Class lecture begins PROMPTLY at 8:00am 
             Lunch from 12noon - 12:45 (Bring your own lunch or restaurants nearby)
             Class ends at 4:00pm.

             Range portion of the course will be on Saturday, November 26 at DBL. 'G' Firearms
             Training School, near Tajique to begin immediately after fingerprints are taken and
              will last until all students have qualified.

FEE:  $150.00 Due at the time of the class, made payable Donn Gallahue
           $100.00 license fee due when applying in Albuquerque, payable to NMDPS

Mountainair Farm & Garden Market Opening Day May 5

Count down has started for the Mountainair Farm & Garden Market opening, Thursday May 5, Cinco de Mayo, so we're planning on some Latin themed food and music to celebrate this exciting day!

We're trying to get an approximate tally of those planning to be vendors at the opening (fresh produce, plants, home-made art/crafts, one-time event permitted prepared food, organization with an informational booth). Two Fold Celebration – Humpries 7Up/7Down Ranch

Leroy J Humpries (LJ to his friends) is hosting a get together to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of his families New Mexico homestead and a dedication ceremony marking the geometric center of the New Mexico.

Recently, I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Humphries outside of my real estate office in Mountainair. He had made the trip into Mountainair to get a hair cut from Clifford’s Barber Shop, but alas, Clifford’s had already closed for the day. We began chatting about area history and got around to his idea of placing a flag pole set in a base designed in the shape of New Mexico as a visual, physical location that anyone could visit.

Both the geologic and geometric centers of New Mexico are locate on Humpries 7Up/7Down ranch so why the geometric center? LJ thought folks might enjoy being able to visit a location that they could find themselves by simply finding the center of an X.

With that idea in mind, LJ has completed construction of a flag pole set in a base shaped like New Mexico with diagonal lines leading to the flag which is located at the geometric center of New Mexico. Additionally, he has graciously supplied a park bench at the base of the flag and a walk through gate to allow the general public access to the geometric center of New Mexico should the main ranch gates be closed.

New Mexico Magazine and the Albuquerque Journal plan to cover the two fold invitation only celebration is being held south of Mountainair, NM in August and I will post again with photo’s from the event a little later.
