MANZANA. MANZANO. Near this town, on NM 10, 15 mi NW of Mountainair, are two old apple orchards, which tradition claims were planted during the mission period before 1676. But Dr. Florence Hawley Ellis, University of New Mexico, dates the trees, from ring growth, as no earlier than 1800. They are said to be the oldest apple ordhards in America.
