Jesse Sedillo - Candidate for Estancia School Board

Jesse Sedillo
I am running for re-election for the Estancia School Board and I'm asking for your support and vote. The election will be held on February 1st. If you would consider voting for me again, I'd appreciate it.

Just wanted to let you know some of the accomplishments and first hand information about the current school board and myself.

1.   I now have four years experience being on the Board of Education and have been the President the last two years. We as a board work well as a team and everyone on there is committed to this school district and community and are honored to be a part of our schools, staff, administrators and students.

2.   I have received two Leadership awards for the training hours I've undergone. I have completed the state mandated training plus much much more than the state requires. This extra training has helped to educate me and has helped me to fulfill my duties and responsibilities. I take my position very seriously.

3.  In this position I have worked toward accountability. I bring an open mind, experience and strive to fulfill the vision of our district and community.

4.  My peers and I have worked hard on the Budget for the last three years. The economy is down and where other school districts have made staff & programs cuts I can proudly say this school district is in the black without staff or program cuts. We have watched our nickels and dimes and even our pennies. If not re-elected I am also proud to say there won't be a mess left for the the new school board members to clean up. This is a huge accomplishment. We are in sound financial shape considering all the cuts the state has made to our budgets. We still have a good cash balance of just under one million....

5.  I will continue to lobby for our school district which I have done in Santa Fe and in other areas...

6.  My peers and I have done many improvements inside and outside, from computer labs, new AG trailer and improvements, Ideal online classes, sports complex, purchase of new school buses, new bleachers in middle school, new Upper Elementary School roof etc....I also want to say thank you to our community for passing the bond issues. This community supports this district.

7.  My vision is to build a new Middle School and build and new hub for our technology for the entire district. We are right in the state rankings which will give us the opportunity to attempt this. We need to take advantage of this great opportunity. The district would come up with 29% and the state would fund the other 71% through a bond election which will not increase the tax to anyone in our community....

8.  My peers and I successfully negotiated the Wind Turbines for a contract for over 6.5 million dollars to be paid out over a 30 year period. We still have our first two payments, which equal 300,000, in the bank...

9.  Continue to provide low student-teacher ratios at all schools.

10. Been a part of implementing the state mandated finance and audit committees. Our annual budget committees, comprised of staff & community members, have successfully fulfilled their important roles.

The main duties of a school board are the budget, hiring of the superintendent, buildings and grounds and policy...I have strived to fulfill these responsibilities.

Again, I ask for your support.

Thank you.

Jesse Sedillo
