Youth Antler Shed Hunt - May 15, 2011
Wanted: youth groups willing to spend the day outdoors learning about elk and hunting for antler sheds.
This is a free, educational opportunity for non-profit youth groups. The program includes education on elk habitat and behavior. It also offers youth groups a chance to explore the Preserve on foot while hunting for antlers. The antlers gathered will be used to support this program and the management of the Preserve. Learning about elk and exploring the Preserve is an experience not to miss. We are expecting a great time exploring elk habitat on the Preserve. Please join us! - Youth groups must provide a non-profit Federal ID number.
- This is a popular program; groups must apply in advance.
- Maximum limit is 80 youths. A waiting list will be created if we exceed the limit.
- Each group may send only 1 adult for every 5 youth.
- Each group will have a territory to search that might include walking as much as six miles. Youths should be between the ages of 10 and 18 and be reasonably fit to hike at an altitude of 8,500 feet.
