Sixth Annual Youth Pheasant Hunt

2010 Sixth Annual Moriarty Rotary Youth Pheasant Hunt
Saturday, November 13th at the Shiver Ranch
(Firearms and Ammo will be provided)

  • NRA  Firearm  Familiarization / Safety  Overview
  • Clay  Shooting
  • Pheasant  Hunt
  • Age Groups:  8­-­11, 12-15, 16-18  
  • Youth will learn to clean birds.
  • All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Pheasant Shoot requires Hunter's Education Card
    (NO CARD - NO PHEASNT SHOOT)
  • Firearm Familiarization & Clay Shoot (Hunter's Education Card not required)
Drive to the Shriver  Ranch:  Hwy  41  and  Dinkle  Road, Stanley (Take  41  north  from  Moriarty  approximately  6  miles)

Events Schedule: 
  • 9:00  a.m.  NRA  Firearm  Familiarization/Safety Overview
    (Breakfast  Burrito/Drinks  will  be  Provided )
  • 10:00  a.m.  Shoot  Clays
  • 12:00 noon  Lunch  ($5  cash)  Sandwich  with  usual  sides.
  •   1:00  p.m.    Pheasant  Hunt  
Do not bring your own firearms or ammunition!  Firearms and Ammo will be provided.

Manzano Mountain Gun Club - Raffle Results

Congratulations to the winners of the Manzano Mountain Gun Clubs 2010 Hunters 5 Rifle Raffle!

Bill Randolph of Capitan, NM won the Remington 700 SPS 30-06 with Leupold Scope
Shirley Steinbock, (no town given), won the Weatherby Vanguard .243 Youth/Lady Model
David Haven of Texas, won the Thompson/Center Omega In-Line .50 cal
Tanner Dunlap,k (no town given), won the Marlin 30-30 Model 336 Lever action
John McKibben, (no town given) wont the Remington 870 Pump Shotgun in 12 gauge

Awards for top raffle ticket sales:

     Alvie McKibben - $100.00 prize
     Lonnie Greene - $50.00 prize.

Proceeds from the raffle added another $1,700.00 to the shooting range development fund.

Time approaches for the annual Sunflower Festival in Mountainair, NM. This years event will take place on August 28, 2010 and will centrally focused at the Mountainair Activity Center (MAC) located on US 60, in Mountainair and will run from 10am - 4pm.

Event sponsor, Manzano Mountain Art Council promises this years event to be bigger and better than ever. Fine arts and crafts screened from statewide and regiaonal applications will be showcased. Additional market place exhibotrs will be available as well. Other events:

  • Poets & Writers Picnic, Shaffer Hotel
  • Sunflower Hat Contest
  • Area Tours
  • Cibola Art Gallery Art Show
  • Silent Auction
  • Raffle
  • Vendors
  • Live Entertainment.

Old Timers Parade - Estancia A Thumbs Up

Tumbleweeds 4-H Club members Philip Warren and Segan Frazier give the Old Timers Parade thumbs up! The annual event sported numerous creative and inventive floats, hosted many of the upcoming candidates for the November elections and was nicely organized and presented. Following the parade, there was a BBQ at the Estancia Fairgrounds.

Sunflower Festival Gearing Up for 2010


The Manzano Mountain Art Council (MMAC) is pleased to once again sponsor the annual Mountainair Sunflower Festival.

This year’s event will showcase local and regional artists and craftspeople.

The event will include live music performances and food vendors and is being held concurrent with the 13th Annual Poets and Writers Picnic.

Congratulations to the Manzano Mountain Arts Council on another fantastic Sunflower Festival! It was fantastic to see so many visitors and smiling faces in town this past Saturday. Be sure to thank Council members for all of their hard work and efforts!
